That’s a Woman’s Thing

Women's interests aren't childish or inferior; to the contrary, we love beautiful, shiny things, but that is just a small part of the complexity and capabilities that we share and nurture in the world.

We’ve all heard the phrase “That’s a woman’s thing.” But I’ve always found it curious and frustrating how anything labelled as for women is often seen as inferior, less important, silly, childish, irrelevant, or unnecessary.

Yet, I can’t help but ask: Is cooking unnecessary? Is washing clothes irrelevant? Are flowers childish? So many things associated with women lose their value in the eyes of society, becoming the subject of mockery or even offensive comments.

And let’s be clear, cooking and doing laundry are not just “women’s things.” They are basic activities of a capable, functional, and responsible human being.

The truth is that women give life and, more importantly, nurture children, families, friendships, and communities. I refuse to see that as inferior or irrelevant. Women manage, adapt, and solve problems every single day.

This blog exists to highlight, celebrate, and build community. Because everything that is considered “just for women” is actually complex, powerful, and beautiful. Sometimes it’s wrapped in pink, but that’s another conversation.

So here, I’ll be sharing and reclaiming everything that society dismisses with the phrase “That’s a woman thing.” From everyday habits to big ideas, we’ll explore it all because women’s interests deserve to be celebrated, not dismissed.
